  • Write Blog #10 (200-400 words) comparing your second reading experience with your first. Did you notice something new? Did you react differently to one of the author’s claims? Did you read something critically when, at first, you read it as a believer or vice versa? Continue to “clear the fog.” Look up at least two more terms or references that you don’t know.

I reread “I am not a story” by Galen Strawson. The first time I read this piece of writing, I was confused. I went through it and picked out things that I could understand. The second time around, I read carefully and I discovered a better realization. I agree with Strawson with some points and I did not the first time I read this. For example, when she says “I think it’s false- false that everyone stories themselves…” I agree with that statement, for the most part, I think that everyone has a story but multiple people help give one person their story and they cannot do that on their own. I also saw how Strawson said that everything is affected by your surroundings. She used the example of being on a bus journey and being affected by chatting with someone and thinking about where she is headed. Everything seems to affect our lives, and constantly we retell stories that may be partly true because we tell them how we want then to remember it.

I looked up the term prima facie and it means based on the first impression. That term showed up while describing how you see a narrativist view, in this case the first impression tells you that they live and tell a collection of stories of their lives. I also looked up the term implicit which means implied. This was used along with the word unconscious to describe what self-narration is.

Both of the terms helped me understand the sentences more, though they were small.
